Leitmotiv Joins Circular and Fair ICT Pact to Advance Sustainable Digital Procurement

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, XX.02.2025 Leitmotiv, an independent think-tank today announced a new partnership with the Circular and Fair ICT Pact (CFIT). Both organizations join efforts in accelerating digital sustainability through procurement of digital infrastructure and services.

As part of this collaboration, Leitmotiv joins CFIT's network of public and private ICT procurers as a supporting organization to advance sustainable procurement practices. Leitmotiv is leveraging its deep expertise in digital infrastructure, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, data centers, and sustainable software to help develop sustainability-focused purchasing criteria for the CFIT community.

Max Schulze, Leitmotiv's director, emphasized, "European initiatives such as CFIT are critical for bringing government organizations together and bundling their purchasing power toward a more sustainable future".

In this partnership, CFIT and Leitmotiv are working together to produce a purchasing criteria for IT infrastructure, cloud storage and general software services.. Last year, CFIT developed an online SPP Criteria tool to help users choose specific criteria for their public organizations that foster sustainable procurement and future readiness.

Aligned with Leitmotiv's vision of a values-centric and sustainable digital future, the think-tank recognizes collaboration as essential for advancing sustainability in the IT sector. CFIT participants can create significant demand for sustainable, circular and fair IT products and services, driving improvements throughout the digital value chain. By means of collective procurement power and active dialogue with industry stakeholders, CFIT catalyzes meaningful change and innovation.

Through its Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance (SDIA) initiative, Leitmotiv is already working to transform the digital infrastructure market by promoting sustainability, local impact, and transparency together with a community of purchasers and providers. "The CFIT partnership is a natural extension of our community - bridging the gap between a wider group of purchasers and combining their influence on the market," noted Schulze.

Ekaterina Smid-Gankin from CFIT welcomed Leitmotiv’s decision: "We value the deep-expertise that Leitmotiv brings to sustainable IT procurement and we are looking forward to collaborate on projects that embrace sustainable and fair practices within the ICT sector".

CFIT is a key platform for increasing the adoption of circular and sustainable IT procurement practices that brings together public and private ICT procurers and governments in a collective movement.
