Leitmotiv Joins Circular and Fair ICT Pact to Advance Sustainable Digital Procurement as a supporting organization
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, 10.04.2025 – Leitmotiv, an independent think tank, has become a supporting organization of the Circular and Fair ICT Pact (CFIT). Through this collaboration, both organizations seek to enhance sustainability in digital infrastructure and services by promoting the adoption of sustainable IT procurement practices.
As part of this collaboration, Leitmotiv will share its expertise in digital infrastructure, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, data centers, and sustainable software to help develop sustainability-focused procurement criteria and policy recommendations for CFIT's network of (public) procuring organizations.
Max Schulze, director of Leitmotiv, highlighted the importance of global initiatives like CFIT, noting their role in bringing together public procuring organizations and leveraging their collective purchasing power to support a more sustainable future. In line with Leitmotiv's vision of a values-driven and sustainable digital landscape, the think tank sees collaboration as a key driver for advancing sustainability in the IT sector.
Through CFIT, participants can create demand for sustainable, circular, and fair IT products and services, promoting positive change throughout the digital value chain. By utilizing collective procurement power and fostering dialogue with industry stakeholders, CFIT facilitates the development of actionable, long-term solutions that drive lasting, systemic change.
With its Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance (SDIA) initiative, Leitmotiv is already working to transform the digital infrastructure market by promoting sustainability, local impact, and transparency together with a community of purchasers and providers. "The CFIT partnership is a natural extension of our community. It bridges the gap between a wider group of purchasers and combines their influence on the market," said Schulze.
Marieke Weerdesteijn and Ekaterina Smid-Gankin, representing the CFIT Secretariat, welcomed Leitmotiv’s decision: "We appreciate the expertise Leitmotiv brings to sustainable IT procurement and look forward to collaborating on initiatives that advance sustainability and fairness within the IT sector."
Leitmotiv is an independent think-tank focussed on operationalizing values in our digital future. We do this by raising awareness, empowering policymakers and creating knowledge which enables the operationalization of values in digital products, technologies, business models and infrastructure.
CFIT is a key platform for increasing the adoption of circular and sustainable IT procurement practices that brings together public and private ICT procurers and governments in a collective movement.
