We are a 💡think-and-do tank for an alternative digital economy

At Leitmotiv, we put our experience in digital infrastructure markets, academia, government, law firms and NGOs to use to contribute to a digital economy that operates within planetary boundaries, where excessive concentration of corporate power is contained by democratic forces and where human rights, dignity, and equality are respected and promoted.

Research is at the heart of what we do

We will use our experience, skills, and market knowledge to gather evidence, undertake research, model and present information on market failures and environmental and social externalities in the digital economy in an accessible and visually appealing form.

Evidence-based advocacy and supporting litigation

Unlocking and sharing information isn't enough to transform the digital economy. We actively pursue corporate accountability by exposing how specific actors cause environmental and social harm, while engaging in legislative advocacy and supporting strategic litigation to ensure proper regulation and accountability for their actions.

Supporting knowledgeable communities

There is an enormous information asymmetry at present between a handful of powerful tech corporations and the rest of humanity. We aim to support an active community of NGOs, grassroots activists, donors, and others in civil society in various regions of the world where information, research, and experience can be shared. Likewise, we will make the power asymmetries in terms of control over key infrastructure more tangible. We aim to play an active role in assisting activists globally towards the causes rather than the symptoms of the ills in our digital economy and to become a central global hub and helpdesk for civil society on research and information about the digital economy.
