In December, Leitmotiv joined a coalition of organisations to send a letter to the Amsterdam municipality and the Province of Noord-Holland about a new hyperscale data center near Amsterdam Sloterdijk. With the political and public debate on regulating large data centers now in full swing, Leitmotiv has written a blog post and accompanying briefing. The post explains why the existing hyperscale ban (2022) falls short and proposes three concrete steps: a moratorium on new hyperscale data centers, stronger transparency rules, and tightening of the existing ban.
